Texas DOT saved $3.2M by using Crafco solutions across 72 lane miles, extending pavement life by 7+ years.
Sealcoating asphalt extends its service life by slowing the oxidation that leads to deterioration. A maintenance program that includes sealcoating is more cost-effective than repaving.
While asphalt is an incredibly versatile material, it will ultimately degrade over time due to oxidation from sunlight, water and chemicals. As the asphalt binder oxidizes, it becomes brittle and loses flexibility, leading to cracks and potholes. Aggregate also pops out as the top layer of binder is worn away, leading to loss of friction.
Sealcoating blocks the effects of sun, rain, deicing salts and vehicle fluids. It penetrates into the surface of the asphalt, replacing vital ingredients that keep the pavement from becoming brittle. While some cracking is inevitable, sealcoating significantly slows the deterioration of asphalt, which delays pavement failure.
Crafco offers two sealcoat formulas available in different grades. See which one is right for you.
