Product Features

True On-Demand Pumping

With the only true on-demand pumping system on the market, the Super Shot’s pump only runs when needed, saving wear, maintenance and material waste. The pump is mounted inside the tank but remains accessible, eliminating the need for material recirculation or external plumbing.

Flex Boom

The ergonomic overhead Flex Boom supports the weight of the hose, reducing fatigue and keeping the hose from dragging on the ground. It also helps increase the maximum working distance with built-in swiveling hose hangers that prevent hang-ups.

Fast Melting

High-BTU burner and oil-jacketed double-boiler tank for fast, even material melting with no scorching.

Efficient Operation

The Super Shot line is engineered to conserve resources so you can stay out longer and get more done each day.

  • Tier IV diesel engine provides efficient power while meeting environmental regulations
  • Digital engine controller automatically regulates engine speed, reducing fuel consumption and wear
  • On-demand pump system only runs when needed, further reducing engine load
  • High-torque 6:1 gear ratio makes efficient use of hydraulic power to drive material agitator

Options

On top of the numerous standard features, the Super Shot line offers several additional options to meet your crew’s specific needs.

A wide range of equipment lights are available to direct traffic, help crew members stand out safely, and extend working hours.

The Driver Alert System enables easy communication between crew members and the melter operator. With the push of a button, the operator can tell the driver to move forward, stop, or adjust speed. The system features adaptive volume, wireless operation, a waterproof design and easy installation on either side of the wand handle.

Enhance your crew’s safety and efficiency with the Work Area Camera system, which provides the driver with real-time visibility. The 5” color monitor and waterproof camera pair instantly, ensuring a clear view of the work area without leaving the cab.

The Super Shot 125 and Super Shot 250 are available with an optional compressor providing 100CFM of airallowing fast removal of dirt and debris from cracks with an air lance as your crew moves along.

Super-Shot-250-Autoloader

The Autoloader provides efficient sealant block loading from a tow vehicle to the melter, while also keeping the operator safely away from hot sealant. Featuring weather-proof switches, a splash-resistant loading tower and waterproof electrical enclosures, the Autoloader reduces labor, streamlines your workflow, and helps ensure safety – without requiring equipment modifications.

The overnight heaters keep sealant warm overnight so you can get started faster the next day. They plug in to AC power and reduce the heat-up time required to dispense material.

The shot timer kit makes attaching pavement markers simple by dispensing a set amount of material with each pull of the wand trigger. It can be ordered with your machine from the factory or added later to Super Shot or EZ Series II melters that have electric heated hoses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a crack sealing melter?

Also known as tarpots, crack machines, crack sealers, kettles, melters, crackpots or a variety of other names, crack sealing melters are used to melt modified asphalt crack sealant for sealing cracks in pavement. The material tank is usually oil-jacketed for even heat distribution and to prevent material scorching. Smaller crack sealing melters like the EZ Pour 50 may use propane or diesel burners to heat sealant and may be gravity-fed with a pour spout. Larger melters like the Super Shot 125, Super Shot 250 and EZ Series II line use diesel burners and have sealant pumps that feed material through a hose and applicator wand. The Super Shot 60 is available with a propane or diesel burner, but it is pump-fed with a hose. The hose and wand can be heated, which keeps the material warm to prevent clogs.

Choosing a crack sealing melter depends on several factors: typical job size, space constraints, training capacity and more. If you usually seal cracks in small parking lots or enclosed spaces like a parking garage, a smaller melter like our Super Shot 60 or EZ Pour 50 would be ideal because of their compact size. Crews who typically operate on city streets likely need the higher capacity and output provided by a Super Shot 125 or Super Shot 250. And large highway jobs involving dozens of lane miles need maximum capacity provided by a machine like the Super Shot 250 or one of our EZ Series II melters. While nearly all crack sealing melters are available mounted on a trailer, the Super Shot 60 and Super Shot 125 are also available in skid mount configurations.
Most mastic contains aggregate, so we strongly advise against using mastic in a crack sealing melter. The aggregate would likely destroy the material pump, leading to time-consuming repairs. We recommend using a dedicated mastic melter like the Patcher II or Patcher 4. Mastic melters are gravity-fed with assistance from the agitator blades, so there is no pump to be damaged by the aggregate.
