Crafco RoadSaver Silicone

Extremely durable joint protection for high-demand concrete pavements.

Crafco RoadSaver Silicone joint sealants are the ideal solution for protecting concrete joints from moisture and debris.

Key Benefits:

Trusted by DOTs and road authorities worldwide

The weakest point of a concrete slab is usually the joint where it meets an adjacent slab.

Salt and moisture absorb into joints, starting a series of chemical and physical processes that destroy concrete. Meanwhile, incompressible debris trapped in the joint chips away at the concrete as the adjoining slabs shift over the seasons.

Keeping contaminants out of concrete joints significantly increases its service life. Crafco RoadSaver Silicone blocks salt, moisture and debris from entering concrete joints, preventing chemical and physical degradation. In one study, Crafco RoadSaver Silicone achieved a service life of more than 21 years  the longest ever recorded and published.

Roadsaver Silicone is a single-component, ready-to-use product that cures with ambient moisture to provide a long-lasting, flexible seal. The cured product remains flexible in temperatures as low as -50°F (-46°C), resists jet blast, and can withstand intermittent fuel and oil spills.

Product Features

Uses

Silicone joint sealant is used at airports, loading docks, parking garages, and anywhere else where concrete joints may be susceptible to damage from salt, moisture and debris.

Non-Sag (NS) Formula

RoadSaver Silicone NS is a low modulus non-sag silicone for sealing joints in Portland cement concrete pavements in all climates. Use non-sag silicone on slopes where running is a concern. Non-sag silicone is applied using a pump or caulk gun and tooled into the joint over backer rod for proper adhesion.

Silicone-Non-Sag-3d

Self-Leveling (SL) Formula

RoadSaver Silicone SL is a low modulus silicone which offers lasting performance and easy installation. Use self-leveling silicone on flat pavement or wherever leveling characteristics are desired. Self-leveling silicone is applied over backer rod with a pump or caulk gun.

Exceptional Service Life

In 1991, Crafco RoadSaver Self-Leveling Silicone was applied at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, as part of a study with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. The goal was to determine the best materials and processes for sealing joints in concrete pavements, with a focus on sealants that could stand up to jet fuel exposure on runways.

The Federal Highway Administration measures sealant service life as the time required for 25% of the joint length to develop sealant failure (FHWA-RD-99-143). Of the 13 sealants applied at Fairchild AFB in 1991, only Crafco RoadSaver SL remained below the 25 % threshold by the time the site was re-evaluated in 2012  a service life of more than 21 years.
